If you stopped by the website earlier this month, then you
already know that I dropped my Canon 20D on to the Green Cay parking lot.
Three-hundred and twenty-two dollars later and the Camera is as good as new. So
this past weekend was a test drive to make sure everything was working fine
again.
Our first stop was the Miami Metrozoo. Metrozoo has changed
little since I last visited, more then a dozen years ago, before Hurricane
Andrew blew down the Wings of Asia exhibit. I am pleased to say that the
rebuilt aviary is once again a great place to see all kinds of exotic birds,
and it's where I spend the majority of my time at the zoo. I've added the
images to the updated October
gallery.

Siamang (Symphalangus syndactylus)
Metrozoo holds some fond memories for me, as I remember
visits there with my younger brother. I was always fascinated by the duck pond
/ flamingo viewing area near the gift store.

Common
Grackle (Quiscalus quiscula)
Alright, for those of you still trying to keep up with my
job situation, I left Pegasus Airwave
Inc. on June 9th and joined EH
Building Group on June 19. On October 6th I left EH Building Group to
join Liberty Power on
October 9th. In between I've also had a lot of interviews, and along the
way I've learned some valuable lessons about searching for a new job. The first
lesson is that don't ever completely trust any recruiters. Make sure you
double-check the facts before accepting a position. The second is to verify
what you will be paying for insurance. The insurance premium that I had to pay
at EH for a family plan was so high that it not only negated whatever raise I
was getting, but it actually became a drain on our finances. I literally could
no longer afford to work there. So here I am a week and one day into Liberty
Power and so far so good. I guess after spending nearly 11 years at Pegasus, I
making up for it by job hopping a bit. So for those of you near the Cypress
Creek and I-95 area in

Northern
Cardinal (Cardinalis cardinalis)
On Sunday, I spent the afternoon at my parent's backyard
taking pictures of the resident birds. Next weekend it's back to the wild...
